Imagine giving me a tour of your house. On the journey I may ask questions and wonder with you about why certain patterns and styles are present, and together we may consider what and how things may differ if they were altered. I will never push my way through doors you have closed, it is your house after all, but we may stand beside those doors and reflect on what it may take or mean to open them.
This is a visual I use to describe my collaborative approach to therapy, one in which we combine my knowledge and clinical expertise with your understanding and experience of being you. I invite you to bring your full and complete self into the therapeutic space as we work together to explore the beliefs/experiences/patterns that have shaped your identity and functioning, including what it means to live in a racialized society. By adopting an integrative framework, I draw on a wide range of clinical theory, research, and evidence-based treatments to help you deepen insight and garner practical strategies for addressing the challenges and demands that you face.
